Vision and Values
At St Mary’s C of E Primary school our vision revolves around fostering a sense of community, where each individual contributes to a collective goal of learning and growth. We believe that a strong community forms the foundation of a thriving and successful educational environment for our children, families, school staff and supporters.
Together we inspire and nurture so that everyone can flourish.
At St Mary's C of E it is our desire for all of our children to achieve. We aim for the highest standards of behaviour, education and academic successes, identifying individual needs and encouraging them to flourish.
'The Mustard Seed’ Matthew 13: 31 -32
These words of Jesus are at the heart of our school’s vision. They inspire and motivate our whole school community.
Gospel of Matthew:
The Kingdom of Heaven is like a grain of mustard seed which someone sowed in their field. Yes, it is smaller than all seeds, but when it has grown, it is greater than mere shrubs and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and live in its branches

"I am who I am because of you!"
The Values we explore and strive to live by are: Courage, Compassion, Community.
We encourage and empower our children to show courage:
- Courage to say "no" when others ask you to do something you do not want to do
- Courage to stick at a task even when it is taking time or when it becomes difficult
- Courage to be an "upstander"
- Courage to stand by your beliefs
- Courage to take part in something, to give it a go, even if you are fearful or unsure
'Be strong and courageous; do not be frightened or dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.'
Joshua 1.9
We are Kind -
Through collective worship, role modelling, the curriculum, bible stories, books and discussion we encourage our children to show compassion:
- by helping others when required
- by showing empathy for all
- by remembering others in prayer
- by being a friend when someone is having a hard time, sad or upset
- by thinking about how our words and actions can make others feel
- by being inclusive
Finally, all of you, live in harmony with one another; be sympathetic, love as brothers, be compassionate and humble.
1 Peter 3:8
We are stronger together.
There are many different kinds of communities and most of us are part of several. Belonging to a community means we are not just an individual, separate from everyone else, but we are part of the group. Belonging to a community is very special because it means that we don't have to be alone.
- Share things nicely
- Take turns
- Share your ideas
- Listen to the ideas of others
- Celebrate the successes of others
- Look out for one-another
- Help those in need
- Help those who are hurt, physically or emotionally
- Look after our world
Quality of Education
At St Mary's we believe passionately that all children deserve the very best quality of education. We plan creatively for a varied range of learning opportunities which ensure they have time to develop and practise many skills and deepen their knowledge across all areas of the curriculum.
We believe in developing the ‘whole child’. The skills of communication, resilience, team-work, creative thinking and questioning are woven into our curriculum and allow children to develop their personal, social and academic achievements. We focus on character development through developing the spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of children to “live out” Christian values.
Our School Prayer
God loves us all.
We love each other.
We inspire each other.
We grow in God’s love.
